Choose the correct processor model.
It has been a long time since I was here, but I'm back now due to a tough situation. I'm struggling to choose between two options. I understand the i7-8700 has six cores and twelve threads, while the i7-9700 offers eight cores and eight threads. I'm not planning to buy AMD since I already have parts for the eighth and ninth generation CPUs. The issue is that ninth generation CPUs in my country are currently unavailable, and their prices are very high—sometimes the i7-9700 (non-K) is $87 more than the i7-9700K. Meanwhile, the i7-8700 is about $345. The main question is whether upgrading to a ninth generation CPU would be worth it or if I should stick with the i7-8700 for my needs, which include gaming and streaming occasionally. My rig setup is: CPU:??? RAM: 16GB 2666MHz Mobo: b365m gigabyte Aorus Cooler: cooler master hyper 212 Black edition PSU: 550W 80+ bronze. Thanks in advance, Netreo
I’d consider the i7-8700 for now, but if you need more power for demanding tasks, the i7-9700f could be a better choice.
I would choose the 8700 because it closely matches the 9700 in performance, with better value due to its integrated graphics and lower cost. It’s also a more practical option compared to the 9700, which is the only i7 in ten years lacking hyperthreading.
The figure is climbing higher. It's significantly below the previous level.
