Hi all, newbie here.
I’m building a new PC and trying to figure out the sweet spot for PSU wattage. Here’s my build:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TYGdwY
- It’s mainly for playing Euro Truck Simulator 2 in native 4K.
- I don’t plan to do any overclocking.
- GPU is second-hand, I plan to upgrade to an RTX 5070 Ti or RX 7900 XT in the very near future.
Thank you.

You might want to consider this link;
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/KY...-m...l-pcie5-ii
However, it would be wise to note your location, preferred buying site, and the budget you have for the PSU.

Because both GPUs are 300W units, the new power supply must match that specification. For a 300W GPU, an 850W PSU would be a suitable choice. Choose wisely: https://hwbusters.com/best_picks/best-at...busters/4/ The listed PSUs are ATX 3.x models, each top in its class, and reviewed by a well-known expert (Aris Mpitziopoulos), who previously tested PSUs for TH and now leads the Cybenetics PSU testing approach. I tend to favor Seasonic and Super Flower units. NZXT also performs well. However, other recommended models are available as well. For more details about PSUs, you can begin reading here: https://forums.

I’m still determining the appropriate wattage, but once I have the options, I’ll be happy to hear your opinions on the available brands and models. Should I consider 850W or would 750W suffice?

Have you purchased any of that equipment before? If not, I would opt for another SSD. The 500gb size is insufficient nowadays, and the one you selected is too expensive. Yes, an 850w model is ideal. Usually, the price gap between 750w and 850w is minimal.

Basic specifications and power requirements
GPU - 300W (maximum up to 310W-313W, varies by model), source: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/msi-g...oc/42.html
CPU - 65W (up to 122W when overclocked), source: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-r...-x/22.html
Remaining components - approximately 100W
Overall consumption - around 535W
For a 850W system, there is ample headroom of about 300W for the GPU and additional peripherals.
This also provides sufficient capacity to handle temporary power surges, as the RTX 5070 Ti reached 365W and the RX 7900 XT hit 392W. Roughly 200W buffer remains.

750W would suffice for that CPU + GPU setup just for gaming. A complete system load with the CPU and GPU running at full capacity would stay within safe limits, though over time the maximum output of power supplies tends to decrease. 850W offers better protection, and the price increase is typically around 10-15%. A higher rating also usually results in quieter performance when the load remains constant. An 850W PSU drawing 400W is likely to be more silent than a 750W PSU under the same conditions.

Cybenetics provides reliable information on PSU noise levels, particularly in the Lambda section.

They haven’t purchased the SSD yet. I’ll keep that in mind. Appreciate it.
850W is ideal now. Once we confirm the wattage, I’ll look around for options in my area and get back to you.
Thanks.

Consider this carefully because the PSU powers everything, making it the most crucial part inside the PC. That’s why you should never compromise on a quality PSU! Also, avoid purchasing used ones either. After choosing your model, share the unit details (or part number) here so we can assess its suitability. Alternatively, provide your store link and we’ll review the available options for you.
