Hi guys, I am finding a cpu for my computer and hope to get some recommendations and advice. I will be using it for Video Editing and Music Production. For these programs, they do favour the more number of cores. I was looking at the i9 10900 for two reasons. I was hoping to have an apu while I wait for a decent 3060ti or 3070 but the main reason is that 10 cores is perfect for what I need and they don’t come with any other cpu. Also, Ryzen in music production has many issues with plugins and intel is recommended. I probably can do 8 but 10 would be ideal. Going over 10 cores u can’t really get an apu. I could get the new Ryzen apu but I just want the 10 cores. I know I am being weird about these 10 cores when they don’t really make a drastic difference but any recommendations will be great. Your software performs optimally on Intel chips that support high core counts, so a 10th generation i9 is ideal. I’d suggest checking out the Core i9 10850 as well—it tends to be more affordable and still provides ten cores. Its only drawback is a slightly lower clock speed. You’ll keep the same ten cores. Also keep in mind: if you choose a Z590 board rather than a Z490, pay attention to its compatibility with 10th generation CPUs, since many disable the top M.2 slot due to fewer PCIe lanes.
I'm not sure if AMD causes issues during video production, but if it does, the 10900 is your best choice. You mentioned wanting an APU as well, so definitely stick with the i9. 5900x with extra cores would have been a good alternative in other situations, but based on your needs, go with the i9-10900.
