Ad Block Plus has been acquired, while Taboola, Micro$oft, Amazon and Google compensated them to allow their ads through the whitelist, so much of what was blocked is no longer happening. I recommend this alternative: OpenSource can offer more comprehensive blocking than ABP. Logan also uses it effectively. https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock It actually improves page load times because ads are both blocked and not loaded. Plus, it requires less than 9000 TB of RAM compared to ABP.

I employ adblock plus and haven’t seen any ads. The only sites showing ads that aren’t on my whitelist are imgur.

Sure, generally it takes a while before things happen like this. The reason you notice Imgur ads is likely because your block list isn’t set up correctly or you’ve enabled “Allow non-intrusive ads.” uBlock actually caught my attention—it speeds up page loading and even makes Chrome use less memory than before. It’s really helpful, I’d definitely recommend it.

I didn't pay, but it's still worthwhile.
