3700x stands out as the top all-purpose CPU right now. I wouldn't upgrade to a 9700f/k because it lacks sufficient threading. The 10600k works well for gaming at 1080p, but for higher resolutions or multitasking, streaming, recording, or work, the 3700x outperforms it and uses less power despite having more cores and threads.
