He should consider the availability and compatibility of the 9600k now versus the 10600k later. The cooler he’s using is LGA1151, so checking if the new models support that socket is important. Some recommendations suggest using a compatible bracket, though not specifically for this model.

Consider choosing Intel over the top AMD system and a fresh cooler bracket instead. By then, it might be better to hold off unless you're leaning toward AMD.

He doesn’t require the top-tier setup. He just needs an upgrade beyond his 5000 series processor. And I’m not sure if they offer brackets for his water cooler.

It's an H75 model, but the box and Newegg details don't indicate AM4 compatibility.

Check if the motherboard is confirmed for 9th generation and verify if "5000 series" refers to the correct model.

He’ll likely need a different motherboard regardless, and we set aside $100 for that. The Corsair H75 cooler costs $130, works with 1151, but isn’t listed as AM4 compatible—so we’d rather avoid buying another cooler since it’s still functional. It’s a gaming PC, so as long as it’s an older i5, he should be okay. If the 10600 arrives soon, we can hold off; otherwise, we’ll move to a 9600k when it drops.

When the 10600K is released, will you say "Get this one or wait again"? Then the next time you do that, and again, it's best to purchase a solid processor while it's available. Use it for a while, then upgrade when necessary. Unless the release comes next week or something.

The product is compatible with all Hydro series, including H75. A mounting bracket is available on the Corsair website, though it is currently out of stock.

You can purchase an AM4 bracket for the cooler for $10, and I’d consider that upgrade while switching to AMD.
