Choose between two RAM modules or four for optimal performance.
Hi, I'm planning a fresh build soon and am in the queue for a 3080. Once they release the 5900x, I need to pick a RAM option. I'm aiming for a mostly white build and was considering the "Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR4 3600 MHz C18 XMP 2.0." Would that be preferable to the "Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4 3200 MHz C16"? From what I've read, lower C ratings are better. My motherboard is the MSI MPG B550 GAMING CARBON WIFI with a Corsair 4000d Airflow case.
you need two 2x16 modules, not four 8x10. ryanze performs better with just two sticks. regarding ram, focus on frequency and latency. latency comes from dividing the time by the frequency. here, 18 divided by 3600 equals 16 divided by 3200, which gives the same latency. however, the 3600c18 model has a higher frequency, so i’d pick 3600c18. ideally, if you can find a 3600c16 kit at a reasonable price, that would be even better due to lower latency.
You're free to choose alternatives beyond Corsair. Key Ballistix 32 GB OLOy WarHawk RGB 32 GB or Crucial Ballistix RGB 32 GB are available.
