It's roughly 4-5% slower, which means the price gap is similar. Either option could work, so it might be worth flipping a coin.

The choice of cost depends on your goals, but for optimal long-term performance the x3d CPUs stand out as the top option, especially compared to the 5800x3d which offers great value on AM4.

When using 1080p resolution, expect around 58X3D performance, but at 4K the quality drops noticeably. A well-optimized 5900X can reach up to 5150MHz across multiple cores and draw substantial power—around 260W—while everyday tasks run smoothly on it. The higher clocks become more apparent when switching to 58X3D. If you're just gaming, X3D works fine, though I notice some instability after a few months. Right now I’m back with my 5900X. Another system has a 5600X that handles 4850 across cores and threads with ease—it’s quite powerful.

Gaming at 5800x3d requires more power than 5900x if you need extra performance
