You could get the Ryzen 7 3800X under $300, but the Ryzen 5 5600X offers better performance. Since you mainly use it for games, consider the 5600X unless you need a lower price now.

The 5600X appears to be the best option for gaming and offers close to 3800X performance on multi-core systems, making it a clear choice despite equal costs.

Observe Zen 3's performance and compare it to the 3800X. Monitor its results and see how it stacks against the 5600X.

It should resemble the 2700x vs 3600 debate from a year ago. For gaming, a 5600x might be preferable, while for professional use, a 3800x could be better.

You're asking about the cost comparison between a 5600 and a 10700K. I checked the expected prices and found a deal on the 10700K for around $500, including chip and MB. As a gamer, you're wondering if the 5600 will be better in performance.

It will definitely work, mainly thanks to its per-clock instructions. If you're setting up a PC, you should consider using a Ryzen processor.
