The 3600 performs better than the 2700x in most scenarios unless it's designed for heavy multithreading. In that scenario, the 3600 offers an advantage.

I also suggest this choice. A pre-owned Ryzen 3000 model will increase supply in the used segment after the 4000 series is revealed.

It really hinges on the funds available by March next year. If I can buy a R7 3700x, that’s my choice. Otherwise, I’d consider a 3600 or 3600x, or maybe even a 3600xt.

The cost variation between them rarely justifies it. Choose the regular 3600 unless you spot the x and xt near identical prices.
