I’m looking to upgrade from my old i5 4460 to a newer model within a budget. I came across a Ryzen 5 2600 for 127 euros and a Ryzen 5 1600 for 92 euros. My goal is to decide which offers better value for my needs. I’m mainly a casual gamer who plays mostly CS games, sometimes tries older titles, and occasionally wants something new. My setup includes a 1080p monitor, no streaming or editing, an RX 460 4GB graphics card, and 16GB of DDR4 RAM. I won’t be upgrading soon—just a few years, so the 2600 is newer but only about a year away. I’m not interested in overclocking or OC components. What’s the main difference between these two for everyday use? Thanks!

Maintain your 460 and opt for the 1600 model, but be aware it could limit you around 15% compared to the 2600 if you plan to upgrade your GPU later.

The latest 1600 series labeled AF are Zen+ components, nearing the 2600 instead of the previous 1600. Choose that option. Avoid A320 boards and opt for at least a B450.

To determine if something is an AF part, check for specific characteristics or patterns unique to that type.

Webshop overview with a note: AF pairs well with Wraith Stealth, unlike the Wraith Spire Cooler 1600. The spire has some utility, but the stealth feature is quite poor—don't rely on it.

Some sites continue to list it as 14nm instead of 12 in their details.
