Hello, you're aware that Steam sales are active. Since I've never played a Half-Life title before, I'm curious about diving into the series. Is it better to purchase the original game or just watch a tutorial? If yes, I can get the Complete package for HL1, which includes both games plus expansions for $10, or Orange, which offers HL2 and expansions for $5 plus Portal 1 for $5.

The initial half-life might feel a bit dull, but it's worth trying. HOWEVER, if you're starting it, choose "Half-Life: Source" instead of "Half-Life." This version is the same game but built with the Source engine, looking much more polished.

They left the assets untouched, so the appearance remains unchanged. The only update was moving it into the new engine. To experience an HL1 source engine upgrade, you need to play the Black Mesa mod.
