I was last told about Intel's preference to save money by choosing Intel chips. Ryzen offers another benefit: it isn't tied to an outdated platform. The 4th generation Ryzen fits in the same socket as previous models, while the 9700K can only be upgraded to the 9900K and similar variants. The 10th generation won't work with the same boards. It might make sense to stick with older boards, particularly those that support BIOS flashing for 3rd generation compatibility—like MSI B450 ATX boards, though MAX boards are already pre-flashed.
