I’d receive a 14700KF, the 14900 serves mainly productivity needs, and it consumes a lot of heat and power. Choose a KF if you don’t use Quicksync. Consider the 14600KF; gaming performance is comparable, the cooler is only 240mm, which isn’t ideal for over 200W. Overall, DDR4 is nearing end-of-life and will significantly limit Intel chip performance. For racing and flight sims, x3D chips perform much better. What’s your current setup? What’s your budget?
I own a PRO Z690-A with WiFi, DDR4 i5 12600k, 32GB RAM at around 3200MHz, paired with an RTX 4070 ti and 16GB Corsair RM850. The PSU is 850W, and I use the Corsair iCUE H100i Elite Capellix cooler with a 4000D AIRFLOW tempered glass mid-tower ATX case. The budget range is roughly 350 to 500 EUR.
Unclear what prices you expect for each part, but from Amazon it seems like a significant jump—about $100 more for four extra E cores and a higher frequency of 400 MHz—possibly supported by overclocking. That wouldn’t be practical on the 240mm AIO.
You don't need 14900k for gaming. I don't think you'll need more than 14600k with your GPU. Here's a benchmark that is not on 4090 - the higher the resolution, the less CPU performance is needed.
What is it about a RAM that is one generation older affecting performance? It may be due to outdated technology, reduced speed, or compatibility issues with newer hardware.
It's interesting how a 6000Mhz CL30 with DDR5 can match up to a 3200Mhz CL16 with DDR4 in terms of latency, even though the DDR4 RAM isn't necessarily faster in this case.
