It depends on which specific boards you're comparing to. If the X570 mobos are the same or cheaper, no reason to not go X570. B550 is only "newer" cos it got massively delayed.

I see what you mean, but from a quality standpoint the B550 isn't significantly worse than the X570.

Quality is the issue, the variation lies in the features. It also varies based on the boards chosen; a mediocre x570 can match a poor b550. It really comes down to how much you spend and the particular components used.

It doesn't seem necessary for any controllers to use USB3 speeds. Switching to MATX would greatly reduce the number of motherboard options with many USB ports. For smaller builds using MATX or similar, the X570 might not be worth it since you won't have room for all the extra PCIe4 lanes. I don’t have the exact specs of the Gigabyte B550M Auros Pro, but its capabilities appear quite comprehensive.

I'll check the details for you. With micro-atx you can include USB cards, but with itx you won't be able to because the PCIe slot is required for the GPU.
