There are plenty of rumors circulating, making it tough to stay on top of things

I reviewed several videos mentioning only x570 and b550 boards compatible with Zen 3. If you own one of those, you should be okay for Zen 3. AMD likely plans to phase out AM4 next year after their 2020 commitment. Considering current trends, it might be wise to grab a 3600x around $210 soon or wait for the upcoming release. You may find a cheaper CPU with similar performance or a faster one at the same price. Thanks!

I think I'll wait for Ryzen 3 at the end of this year and an AM4 board. Mainly trying to set up a good rig for CP2077, but I planned on playing the game through more than once anyway so I'll probably play once on my current system (6700k, 1080ti) and then save the other two playthroughs for the new system. New system is also because I got a Valve Index and even with these specs i still get reprojection in more demanding titles. Talking with others on the forums, I'm thinking more and more that waiting for DDR5 RAM, AM5 socket, and 10nm Intel benchmarks to compete with Zen 3 might not be necessary. The only thing that would give me pause would be if nVidia planned to release a cut-down 3090 with 12+ GB VRAM for $899-999 and called it a 3080 Ti. In that case I would probably upgrade everything but the GPU and swap it later.

I've been thinking a lot about it. Right now I'm leaning toward the 3600 configuration. For the GPU, a 3070 seems like a solid choice and offers better value. My strategy is to try the Founder's Edition 3080 for a month, then see if I can upgrade to a Founder's 3070 next month and sell my 3080.
