That price will be significantly higher than the usual options. The 13,700k will set you back $820, and the 7,700x will be $690 in Australia, leaving only $820 for the CPU.

Yes, it can work. However, the motherboards for that platform cost around $600 for a gaming pro carbon, compared to $173 for an X370, so I thought you had unlimited funds.

For pure gaming, it's usually wiser to choose a 13600KF or 7600X rather than the other chips, especially since the cost of AM5 boards makes those six-core AMD options less attractive when bought together.

agreed, from a value perspective, what the other person talked about regarding z690 boards getting support for the 13th gen seems like the top choice. I thought they were compatible. Possibly just drr5? If it’s really that simple, maybe only DDR4 from 12th gen to 5th gen offers better value in games.

They appear to support both options. As DDR5 becomes more affordable, I chose it because it seems to improve performance under heavy CPU strain. The latest reviews mentioned significant challenges with CPU limits, so I might delay evaluating the 13th-gen vs. Zen4 differences until the 4000-series graphics cards arrive.

I’m not overly concerned with the lowest price, but I need to stop if it goes over $820 for this 13700K. I’m also seeing either a 4080 16GB or something comparable from AMD.

I mean even high definition didn't break the GPU (I think "RTX" is what folks mix up about better lighting tricks—like copying frames into a buffer and shifting them at certain angles). A 3060 still lags behind a 1080 just because it excels in one area but falters elsewhere. In my view, 1080p gaming isn't great unless you really value visuals. It feels strange pushing maximum settings at 1080 when you can barely tell the difference from lower quality up close, especially beyond a few meters. Now newer titles often skip fine details, but even old games with blur effects show texture packs for practicality. Then again, in some cases like Saints Row, faces look mostly solid colors with sunlight, which is pretty cool. Off topic, but generally I think 1080p gaming falls short if you care about picture quality.

You're asking about the source of $820. In the USA you can purchase it for $429 on the KF board listed at Newegg, and a Z790 DDR5 motherboard for $249 as well. A Z690 with flashback is available for $160.
