I'm curious if the issue is with the power supply unit or just the graphics card. I've been using a GTX 1660TI since 2019, streaming on Twitch and playing MSFS 2020. It runs at low to medium settings, but performance drops when streaming. Even without streaming, MSFS stutters, especially in airports. My Windows 11 freezes during takeoff into Istanbul, around 500 feet before landing. The graphics freeze completely, but my stream and webcam/mic stay functional. About a minute to two minutes later, OBS becomes unstable with red error messages as the system thaws, then it restarts normally. After that, everything works again, though performance remains shaky at low to medium settings—possibly the GPU or PSU is overworking the system. My PSU is a Corsair RM850x I've had since 2018.
This PSU comfortably supports a 1660. Likely it was just a minor issue. The stuttering might relate to performance, possibly involving the GPU or CPU based on your setup.
Occasional stuttering during streaming is normal, yet performance can dip even when everything seems stable. This might be due to several factors: GPU drivers may not be updated, CPU and GPU temperatures could be off, other processes might be consuming resources, or the available disk space on the boot drive is limited.
Certainly, I've updated with the latest information. Fresh installations of Windows 11 were around two months ago, and temperatures rarely exceed 40°C for the CPU—typically between 28°C and 35°C during active use. When idle or gaming isn't running, it's usually around 24°C or lower. The GPU tends to spike to 80% to 100%, especially on demanding games like MSFS2020, which requires a large SSD (500GB) and only uses about 290GB. I have a 6TB drive with plenty of space, and I never store games there. My CPU runs at 100% but not at full capacity, while the GPU stays high during intense sessions.
GPU temperature stays between 45-55°C when under load or idle, which is normal. The occasional stuttering you mentioned seems to happen mainly during intense moments, possibly a recent change.
Running the card at full capacity – idle 26c. Usually performs well, but sometimes struggles under heavy pressure or specific conditions.
This card should be able to manage it. You might want to push it a bit higher for a slight improvement.
It shouldn't be a major distinction. I believe you can't rely on the adjustable bar with Gen 3, yet the performance gap remains insignificant.
