Consider building your PC with either the Ryzen 3900X or Intel i7-10700K using PCIe 4.0 or PCIe 3.0. Which suits your needs better depends on your priorities—gaming versus multitasking. The Ryzen offers strong performance for gaming, while the Intel provides better efficiency for running apps and Chrome tabs. Let me know if you'd like more details!

Currently, gen 3 provides sufficient bandwidth for ampere cards and doesn't seem to be impacted much (though we'll need to monitor the 3090's performance, it should work). If you choose z490, the chipset is technically gen 4 ready, but the existing CPU isn't. If Rocket Lake supports gen 4 lanes, you'll get that on the platform. For gaming, the 10600k or 10700k chips are more than adequate.

You asked about the recommendation regarding Gen 4 support and performance on that platform. It seems you wanted clarification on what the advice meant. The suggestion was likely pointing out that if someone mainly plays games, they should consider a motherboard that supports Gen 4 for better performance. You also mentioned you're not very tech-savvy, so I tried to simplify the explanation and confirm if this board is suitable.

I’d suggest a 3700x unless you’re aiming for top-tier FPS. For now, a 10.7 GHz Intel i7 chipset should be sufficient for GPUs under 3080, unless you’re considering future RTX IO improvements.

Rocket Lake (11th gen) can run PCIe Gen 4, and upgrading will let you use Gen 4 PCIe lanes on the platform (Z490). For heavy gaming, models like the 10600K or 10700K are sufficient. The board uses 12 NCP302045 45A drmos MOSFETs, which is a solid choice. Consider your budget and whether you're restricted to this model. You can find a list of Gen 4 compatible boards here.

I mean the board is decent, do note that the board does not support gen 4 as it doesn't have pcie gen 4 generator, but for the most part, it shouldn't matter and if you'll save some money then i guess, but if you're set on gen 4, the boards i linked are decent.
