Oculus Rift is now available in the UK at a lower price compared to the HTC Vive, but it doesn’t include motion controls. If you’re weighing which offers better value, consider what features matter most to you—price savings versus the added benefit of hand tracking. Based on user experiences, the Vive might edge out for those prioritizing immersive interaction, while the Rift could appeal if motion control is essential for your use case. Let me know if you’d like more details!

Do you have a spacious area for VR gaming? If not, you'd be better off with the Rift. Otherwise, the Vive works well in open spaces. Also, Linus and Luke made an interesting video about it some time back—worth checking out.

I’m focusing on other platforms to find feedback. Right now, VR material feels limited, so I’d prefer to hold off until more advanced releases arrive.

Consensus reached. Unless you really need a game that fits perfectly in VR, or you have both the funds and the space, I’d hold off. Even accessing its full capabilities usually requires a dedicated area. Such rooms might become standard in future homes.

I have a fairly big space for VR which isn’t an issue. Since the rift includes the upcoming motion controllers (though they seem basic compared to the Vive, it’s still much more affordable), the Vive might not be the sole choice for room-scale VR.

Not always. Certain modifications allow titles such as GTA to run in VR.

Interesting, haven't you heard about the Rift motion controllers? Well, those are updates meant to improve VR compatibility. The game wasn't originally designed for them, but they're part of the effort to make VR experiences smoother and more realistic. Elite: Dangerous handled this well, and it's impressive how far VR gaming has come.

Do you think the high cost is justified?
