It's a clear choice between Rift and Vive. The Vive offers better mobility since you can move around with it, unlike the Oculus setup which includes its own headphones and controllers that aren't yet available. While VR demands more power, your system should handle it (see part picker link). Playstation VR might be a solid alternative, though game options are limited. If you're serious about VR experiences like playing pool or exploring Elite Dangerous in VR, consider it worth trying despite the fad perception. Let me know if you need more details!

Vive receives overall positive feedback as the superior VR experience. Consider your perspective accordingly.

It's not just a passing trend; VR is substantial, though the initial versions aren't ideal. Expect improvements in the following generations.

You can navigate and interact with the Rift effortlessly. The headphones offer significant benefits without any drawbacks. You can remove them whenever you wish, but their ease of use makes them highly valuable. Especially when you need to move around, this feature stands out. Both PC VR options have their merits—PSVR is more affordable but may suffer from tracking problems and other constraints.

I wouldn’t invest in VR for those five titles you’re considering—it’s just priced beyond what I need. If you’re okay skipping the cost, maybe wait for the next generation instead.

On Steam, numerous titles appear when you type "VR," though there are many more than just a few.

But that wasn't my focus. What I meant was that just five of them catch my attention... I wouldn't pay for five games.

It's hard to be a die-hard supporter if it's the very first product either brand has released... Building a following usually starts with earlier releases. Most reputable reviews clearly favor Vive over Rift, which makes sense.
