Choose between Linux and Windows now or later.
there is Wubi running on Ubuntu with a simple installation and removal process. if you're curious, you could try installing Ubuntu directly and experiment with it before deciding. when ready, format the drive and install Windows afterward. for multiple drives, you wouldn't need to reformat them in Ubuntu since they can stay as is. linux uses a different filesystem (etx3/4) compared to Windows (ntfs). thanks to drivers, Linux can read systems like NTFS and HFS+. you could also explore using virtualbox to run Ubuntu as a virtual machine inside Windows.
I hope it could be easier! I considered using a virtual machine, but my current computer isn’t working well with Notepad. I’m planning to try the free Windows trial and get a product key once I have some extra money. Then I’ll test the VM on my new system later. Thanks for your assistance!
Sure, that sounds like a solid plan. If you're into gaming, you definitely don't need Linux unless you're playing a few smaller titles.
It's been ages, man—they used to do it by now, but they don’t care anymore. Keep dreamin’, brother.
Valve is known for Steam OS, game engines that support OpenGL well, and the industry has largely stayed loyal to DirectX. If things had changed with major players like Intel, Nvidia, and AMD improving drivers, Linux might have become more popular earlier. Personally, I mainly play Dota 2 and CS:GO now, so I’m okay with Linux, but switching all my games would be a huge effort right now.
they don’t care about Windows—it’s the best choice and will stay that way. SteamOS appears to offer minimal updates for gaming purposes.
