Hey everyone, I'm trying to decide on a new PC build and am stuck between several options. I'm considering the Ryzen 7 3800xt, the upcoming Ryzen 7 4800X, the i7 11700K, and the i7 10700K. My needs are gaming, video editing, and 3D rendering with an RTX 3070. I have about $2600 NZD to work with. What do you think?

We lack the exact performance figures for the 4800x, so you'll need to monitor progress.

Based on cost, a 3700x or 10700k works well if purchased now. The 10700k runs quicker in games—especially under high FPS and CPU-heavy conditions—and some programs (like Premiere) may benefit from it. Check benchmarks for your specific app before deciding on future CPU upgrades.

Consider your situation carefully—waiting might save costs, while buying now could secure value. Think about timing and market conditions before deciding.

It's just two weeks left. Keep waiting.

You'd pick the one that suits your needs best, focusing on value rather than cost.

10700k, though likely matches a 3900x in value, offers superior multithreaded speed compared to a chip.

I’m likely to receive the 10700k, since its price matches the 3800xt closely. Some forums from a while back suggested Intel CPUs aren’t as strong as AMD for encoding tasks. It might be worth considering next-gen options, though. Security concerns and fixes for Intel have been addressed over time. Updated: September 21, 2020 by Newbie.Builder – Priced similarly in my country.

Compare AMD processors with Intel options using real tests. Don’t rely solely on others’ opinions—verify yourself. If you wait two weeks, the announcement will come, and a launch will follow about a month later. For now, it probably won’t significantly impact most users, who mainly need direct access to their PCs.

Sure, I understand. It’s good to take your time deciding. Should I go with Intel or wait a bit?
