In fact, using a 9600k isn't the best choice for gaming. It drops to around 3600 due to the mentioned thread problems.

The overall benchmark score across all cores seems high, but in my playthrough of PUBG... it often freezes and then the frame rate drops sharply from 170 to 100, lasting a couple of seconds before recovering. The GPU usage is around 50-60%, while the CPU shows misleading high usage at 39%, even though temperatures hit 72°C, indicating overload. At least Intel displays more accurate usage, albeit with slightly lower FPS, and remains stable at that level. Therefore, I’m less confident in AMD for gaming... I previously had an 8600K and never faced these problems with this title.

Times don't show the CPU is overwhelmed... The task manager doesn't display load clearly, particularly when averaging across all cores. Also, it's important to remember that 3600 reaches single-core performance first, so the problems you experienced shouldn't still exist. Regarding consistent frame rates, 3600 is clearly the superior option in today's games.

I've reviewed it once more and I believe the problem isn't with the CPU. Your choice of components seems solid for your needs. What are your thoughts on my final pick: Ryzen 5 3600 MSI B450M PRO-VDH MAX Flare-X CL14 3200Mhz (2x8GB) Sapphire NITRO+ Radeon RX 5700 XT? Any suggestions for improvements? Thanks.

The microfreezes in PUBG might be linked to the CPU, but I haven't checked the game's updates this year. I can't confirm it for sure. Maybe try a more affordable GPU instead, unless you're sure.

It was my second preference, though after reviewing Gamers Nexus... I decided to skip it.

If you haven't already secured the rams, a more affordable option like Crucial Ballistix Sport works well. You can push them to speeds of 3600-3733 MHz in cl16 mode. The Mikron E-die tends to perform nicely with Ryzen and b450 processors. If you have the budget, investing in a better motherboard would be advantageous. The MSI B450M MORTAR MAX is highly recommended among the top choices.

I assumed 3600 handles up to 3200Mhz on stock speed? I won't overclock the CPU.

It's actually pricier than what I was considering =/ I'll go with Saphire Nitro+ instead.
