If you're looking for a solid game, consider getting an expensive demo. Purchasing ED and receiving Horizions means you'll have a version they claim will work even when servers go offline. With SC, you could potentially own a game for decades.

Thanks for the ideas. I’m all about gameplay, completing tasks, and community vibes. If Star Citizen is great right now and keeps me engaged for a few months, that’s perfect. Elite might be better overall, but I’m not concerned about cost—I’ll just pick the basic version.

Currently, the elite stands out more than ever. I'm really impressed by it.

I can suggest top-tier players who have invested around 190 hours into the game, well beyond 400 hours, and I believe the Rift was obtained thanks to this experience. Regarding dedicated communities, I’m part of the Mobius group. In-game you can opt for solo, public, or private servers. It’s all online, but private servers ensure no one will exploit you. Solo play only involves NPC enemies. On private servers like Mobius, players usually agree not to attack others without permission. This is super helpful when you’re returning from a long journey of over 10,000 leagues with valuable exploration insights.

Elite Dangerous is the top choice. A bit skewed from my perspective since I've spent over 2000 hours as a Cmdr, but screenshots count!

Be careful about purchasing ED without horizons, as you might only get a small portion of the experience.

It seems like ED is likely involved. I tend to focus on the FPS aspects of SC, though I'm not sure if that's fully capturing the overall experience.

I haven’t tried either, but most of my friends enjoyed Elite Dangerous. People often mention it feels better with hotas-style flight controls or an Xbox controller. No one I know has spent money on a space command account and played long enough to share their thoughts.
