Currently, both options seem solid. Intel leads with the 12th generation, though prices are steep and DDR5 costs are high. AMD’s 5000 series remains competitive with reasonable board prices. If you skip the graphics card hunt, AMD offers great value. For budget builds, older Intel chips are worth considering, especially the i5 10400. The key is figuring out your budget and whether you already have a GPU or can acquire one.
