Choose between a second PC or a dedicated capture card for recording purposes.
You're considering two options for your setup: using the Elgato HD60 Pro capture card or building a secondary PC specifically for streaming and recording. What are the advantages of each approach? I don’t understand why creating a second PC for capturing would be beneficial.
A capture card serves as a method for PCs to receive video signals (video input), but it doesn't handle encoding. You require both a capture card and a secondary PC for the "external streaming" option. The "internal streaming route" doesn't need additional hardware, only a powerful CPU to manage encoding and gaming simultaneously, unlike "external streaming" which distributes the workload across two systems with weaker CPUs.
they don't. Capture cards are graphics cards in reverse, offering fewer features (no encoding or decoding) since they are designed for specific tasks; they don’t need versatility if they can perform just one function effectively.
Edit: the HD60 pro can save a video copy during streaming, which is its sole additional feature compared to other capture cards.
