I'm changing my GPU to the new 4070Ti because I'm running at 1080p 165hz and feel like it's not using it fully. The old GPU usage is lower than CPU usage, which is fine since my gameplay runs smoothly. I'm wondering if upgrading from 5700x to 5700x3d will help. Will this reduce GPU load compared to CPU? Should I switch from 1080p to 1440p as well? My current setup includes: B450M steel legend, Ryzen 5700X with Deepcool AK620, 512GB NVMe M.2 PCIe 3, 32GB RAM at 3600MHz, 4070TI GPU, Fractal Ion+ 760W, and platinum cooling.
It hinges on the specific games and your monitor settings. The first factor relates to your gaming setup and display refresh rate; the second involves how demanding the game is and its cache performance; the third affects GPU load more than CPU. For a 1080p ~144Hz monitor, especially with AAA titles, upgrading the monitor might enhance smoothness more than a CPU upgrade. The 5700X remains a solid gaming CPU, but a monitor upgrade could further improve your experience.
Take the monitor since obtaining the 5700x3d version won’t significantly affect FPS or performance.
But why? They already have a 5700X, so there won’t be any change. All the 5700x3D version offers is 3D video in cash and it also can’t be overclocked. I believe the 5700X3D is just an unnecessary expense when it doesn’t provide significant performance gains. Plus, since it isn’t overclockable, you can’t extract more speed from it if needed.
