Hey everyone, I'm facing a question. My brother and I have two Razer Blade 15" Advanced laptops—one with 2x8GB RAM and the other with 2x32GB. I want to make them more similar by swapping one of the 8GB sticks for a 32GB one, so both end up with 32GB. My main worry is losing dual-channel support. I'm not sure if putting one 32GB in each would be better than keeping two 8GB sticks, since dual-channel settings are supposed to perform better. Should I stick with the 64GB setup and buy two 16GB sticks for each, or can I split the 64GB across both as single-channel 32GB? What do you think? I'm trying to save money right now, so I was thinking 32GB on both and each with one single-channel RAM. Apart from the RAM, everything else looks the same. Thanks!

For your needs you likely won’t require more than 16GB, so there’s no point in the effort. I wouldn’t choose 32GB single-channel memory either.

Each laptop offers 32GB and 8GB options, providing a total of 16GB using dual-channel technology—more than enough for most activities, with the remaining space in single-channel mode if you require additional capacity.

Yeah, what Moonzy mentions fits best if the laptops can handle 32 GB drives. They’d need hybrid or partial dual channel, using both sticks together and switching to single channel for the rest. Single channel memory might drop performance by about 5-15%, mainly in games, while office/Windows setups see less impact. Another idea is buying 32 GB sticks but using 16 GB ones instead.

You're considering running both systems at 64 gigabytes each, but you're worried about a slight performance drop. It's reasonable to expect around 10-15% loss, which shouldn't impact overall performance much. Running one at 32 gigabytes should still be better than 16 gigabytes, so it's a safe choice for now.
