AC2 seems like a good place to begin, as suggested by others. It isn’t outdated at all. The games continue to function well and appear similar. The two titles between AC2 and AC3 are mainly expansions, closely mirroring AC2 with only minor additions. Unless you’re interested in the narrative or characters, you can bypass them. AC3 felt quite dull in terms of story and characters, and it has some technical issues on PC—performance is okay but there are occasional scripting errors and invisible objects. Black Flag is recommended because it introduced many new ship-related activities, adding more variety to the experience.
Ac2 stands out as the top title in the franchise. It offers an engaging narrative and a standout protagonist compared to the others. Assassins Creed 4 receives praise for its quality, featuring a diverse open world and naval elements. Assassin's Creed Rouge combines the strengths of Ac4 with a notably intense storyline. Plus, it runs smoothly thanks to optimization efforts.
