After upgrading, you can perform a clean installation by downloading the Windows 10 files and installing them as if you were setting up a new OS. You won’t need to provide the serial number during the setup process.

I experienced just one software problem during the upgrade to Windows 10. For a free option, reformat your system to Windows 8 or 8.1 and then install Windows 10.

This isn't a standard clean installation process.

Consider purchasing a copy of Windows 10 now. A clean installation of Windows 8 followed by an upgrade is the easiest method, preventing potential software problems.

After upgrading to Windows 10, the key is linked to your Microsoft account. During the OS setup, it will request the key twice—once during installation and again when configuring profiles and preferences. I skipped both prompts and opted for a local account instead. Once I connected the internet, it didn’t ask for the key; it retrieved it from the motherboard. For downloading the correct Windows ISO, visit the official site: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-.../windows10. This link works for both upgrades and clean installations.
