Your setup uses Fios and a modem with Wi-Fi, so you likely don’t need a separate router unless you want better coverage or additional devices. For phones and visitors, a basic router should suffice. If you plan more extensive use, consider upgrading later.

In your situation, I’d consider purchasing a new router only when you observe weak connections or slow speeds. Otherwise, unless your computer is the primary device, there’s no reason to invest solely for convenience.

FIOS is a fiber optic provider that doesn’t include a traditional modem. They use an ONT, which is likely installed inside or outside your home, and connects the fiber there. From the ONT, they deliver either coaxial cable or Ethernet. The “Modem with WiFi” you mentioned is a MOCA router. Verizon is the only company I’ve seen in the US using this setup. What does that imply? No other provider offers it. They require it for TV service since the router also sends data to your TV boxes. In some cases, they use the Ethernet from the ONT—usually for speeds over 100 Mbps. If that’s the case, any router can work. You shouldn’t add another router to your existing system, as it could lead to double NATing and potential problems, especially during gaming.
