Absolutely, I get that. It feels like I’m talking to someone who’s already fully grown up. I should’ve been more careful before replying.

Linux Mint comes with Firefox by default (Chromium compatible) and LibreOffice also installed. For PDFs, LibreOffice Draw makes editing simple. By default, saving files uses ODT format; you can switch to the standard DOCX format if needed. If someone isn’t tech-savvy, installing games might be difficult. There’s a helpful discussion forum for Linux Mint where you can ask about restricting game installations.

Instead of installing it directly, simply mark the driver as unavailable and switch it to compatibility settings.

We took the phone and tablet away, and she no longer searches for them. Online homeschooling takes up most of her day. My child is a bit older (14). I’d be more concerned about school violence, a bad district, etc. They were supposed to go to school just recently when someone was caught with a gun.
