Hey there! For your setup, the Asus Rampage III Extreme board works well with a strong CPU and plenty of RAM. Your plan looks solid—48GB total should handle modern games nicely. Regarding the GPU, since you're unsure about the PCIe version and potential throttling, it’s best to stick with a widely supported card like an RTX 3060 or RX 6700 XT. This ensures stability and good performance without compatibility headaches.

What budget considerations apply? Which PSU specifications matter? How many pixels or refresh rate does your brother’s game use?

I found this interesting statement: HDD refers to Hard Disk Drive, SSD stands for Solid State Drive, but your Hard Disk Drive isn't actually a Solid State Drive.

Resolution 1080p at 60 Hz seems reasonable, though I’m not sure if higher speeds are feasible with his hardware. Should check the PSU wattage and rating; I don’t recall those details. It’s better to keep the budget aside right now—focus on understanding the motherboard’s capabilities instead.

LGA 1366 indicates no AVX instruction set support. Certain games may perform poorly or fail to launch. Exercise caution. Avoid worrying about PCIe—it remains backward compatible. I’d expect a system similar to an 1660S, making it useful even after replacing other components later.

Hello, the BQT P8-PRO-900W PSU with a "be quiet!" dark power model is a solid option. Released in Q4 2019, it appears to support modern games at 1080p with high settings. The PCIe 3.0 interface and X5690 design might cause some throttling, but overall it should perform well. It lacks many connectors (just 1xDP, 1xHDMI, 1xDVI), which is a trade-off compared to models like the 1070 that offer more ports. This isn’t a major drawback if you’re okay with fewer options. If you have another idea in mind, feel free to share!

also think about the pci-e connectors, you may have to purchase a fresh power supply or an adapter to run the 1660s
