Windows 10 works smoothly on most systems without Intel built-in chips and with more than one core. On my Yonah-based motherboard cell phone, I used Windows 8.1 which performs well, though it's limited to 32-bit. The recommended specs for Windows 10 are either DDR-2 SDRAM AMD K8 or a Core 2 Duo processor.

Windows 10 includes drivers for older graphics cards and Windows 7 drivers should function too. A suitable option is Linux—either Linux Mint or OpenSuSe.

I'm considering Chrome OS and might attempt to install Windows 10, using drivers from Windows 7 for the GPU. I'm hoping it will work.

SMPlayer includes a YouTube extension that runs significantly quicker than any standard browser player. Try it and have fun. By the way, SMPlayer isn't perfect, but YouTube functions excellently. Download link: http://www.smplayer.info/en/downloads. For SMTube integration with SMPlayer: https://www.smtube.org/en/info. Ideally, YouTube should offer smooth features like instant skipping, rewinding, and fast forwarding without any lag.

Avoid Mint or Ubuntu; search for Linux tailored for older hardware.
