Hi everyone. For your old Asus Transformer T100TAF with limited specs, you’ll want a lightweight Linux distro that runs smoothly on 32 GB eMMC and a basic CPU. Mint, Lubuntu, and Antix are good options for such setups. Keep in mind the 32-bit OS requirement, though some distros support it. Your system is running Windows 8.1, which should work but may feel sluggish—consider switching to a lighter Linux distro if performance matters.

Maybe Arch Linux or Puppy Linux is the way, but honestly it seems like the internet isn't working anymore. A single gigabyte of RAM isn't enough, especially with a Pentium 4 CPU—it'd be worth around $20 for a second-generation Core i laptop if you could get it. Even the lightest Linux distros won't make it much faster for browsing.

SliTaz performs just as well generally, Puppy offers more options but is slightly heavier.

I can confirm Lubuntu. I used it on a Compaq nx6110 with 1GB RAM. It worked better than the original XP setup after all the latest patches were installed. For DOSBox games, it performed even better than newer systems because of the display quality.

Lubuntu performs well according to others, though I haven’t tried it on low-end hardware. I’ve experimented with using it from a USB stick and it works fine. I’d suggest using an email client instead of browsing in a browser. From what I’ve noticed, the RAM is soldered, so options are limited there. If your browsing is light, you might be able to use browsers like QtBrowser or similar.
