Since entering the tech world, I questioned whether building a custom laptop was feasible. A friend suggested it’s possible with the right components. However, when I searched online, I found no specialized laptop motherboards available for purchase, aside from those salvaged from old devices. Why aren’t laptop parts produced and sold like desktop ones?

Due to the fact that many components on laptop motherboards—particularly the CPU and GPU—use a ball grid array (BGA) mounting method, BGA functions similarly to pins but requires special solder for proper connection. This process involves specialized tools, skill, and time, which can become quite costly. I believe by "right parts" you refer to reliable suppliers. You might want to look up laptop OEMs such as Clevo, who have been established in the industry longer. Many firms have rebranded Clevo products under their own names to cut costs and improve expertise, allowing direct purchases from them.
