Hey gamers, my i5-10400 has been reliable but it’s time for a refresh. I have a good idea of what I need and my budget, but I’d appreciate your advice on the details. I plan to order on Monday. Parts: CPU – I’m leaning toward a new Intel or AMD processor (preferably Intel to keep using my DDR4 RAM). Maybe upgrade from the 2x8 3200 to something like 4x6, though I’m open to AMD if you think DDR5 makes sense. I’m not really into MOBO features right now; I just want something that doesn’t slow down my other parts. Cooler – No idea what you think about coolers. If it’s a tower, I’d prefer a black one. Without your input, I’d probably go for an i9, the cheapest compatible MOBO, and a black Noctua cooler. Probably not ideal, so I’m reaching out here. What will I be using the PC for? Streaming and work are not CPU-heavy, which isn’t really important. I also play VR games and some demanding titles like Paradox and upcoming KSP2 – they’re pretty intense. I have a 4K display.
