Hi, I recently purchased a Ga-Z 170 gaming K3 motherboard with an i7 7700 processor. I was looking for a compatible CPU fan but found it doesn’t fit the old AMD model. I tried using my previous AMD fan, but it didn’t work. What type of CPU fan should I consider buying to ensure it fits both the motherboard and the CPU? Thank you.
This 7700 is a low-wattage CPU. An effective air cooler costs around $32. The U12S redux model is slightly more expensive at $50.
Will the hyper t4 fit in my mother board tho? I really dont wanna buy something and wait for it if at the end of the day it wont fit Edit: Cooler Master Hyper H412R RR-H412-20PK-R2 * Edited January 21, 2022 by Anwee Misspelled the model
You're wondering if this specific Coolermaster hyper h412r will fit your motherboard and if it's suitable for your CPU.
Yes, it will work and help keep things cool. It matches your motherboard and CPU's LGA 1151 standard. But it only has a 92mm fan and a smaller heat sink. Are you considering a compact case?
I don't know what your budget is, so I'll list some that I see on emag in different price points. Be quiet! Pure Rock 2 . A little bit more expensive than the other ones we threw out there originally. Allows for you to use different 120mm fans, all black. Non black version of above. Here's the Hyper 212 that @Levent mentioned. Very common budget cooler. Doesn't use generic fan clips, so you need to use one of their fans if you ever want to change it out. Hard to beat at a $38 USD equivalent. I see that the H412R is 9290 FT. ID- Cooling SE-214 Cheaper than the H412. Still tower cooler with 4 heat pipes. Uses generic fan clips and 120mm fan. You can use your own fan on this if you decided to later. Once you start getting down into that price point, they all work about the same. It's just finding one that works on LGA1151, which the vast majority of coolers will. When I'm talking about heat pipes, that's the copper tubes that go into the fins. Generally the bigger the fins, and the more pipes the better it will cool. When I said 4 pipes on the SE-214, it looks like 8, but there's 4. They loop into the plate that touches the CPU and then go up into the fins.
