I currently have 32GB of 3200MHz RAM with my 1600x processor, but I’m not reaching the full speed. It seems the older Ryzen chipset is limiting things. The Ryzen third gen offers 3200 MHz, while anything from the previous generation is under 3000 MHz. For top gaming performance at a lower cost, consider the R3 3300X. If you prefer a balanced approach and are okay with spending a bit more, the R5 3600 is a good option.

For now, the IMC on Zen 2 CPUs offers a significant improvement compared to Zen 1, but keep an eye on Zen 3. A release at 2666 indicates any overclock beyond that is not confirmed and remains uncertain.
All CPUs come with a recommended RAM speed, which you can find on the product details page for each model. For example, the AMD Ryzen 5 1600X offers up to 2667MHz and uses DDR4 memory with two channels. You'll perform best with a Ryzen 3 3600 or higher.
XMP already acts like an overclock. Manufacturers setting RAM speeds is just a joke. It doesn’t really matter how high XMP pushes things because it’s more about the manufacturer’s spec. AMD supporting 3200MHz is just a standard for JEDEC, not XMP. Plus, JEDEC specs have poor latency, so people use XMP solutions which technically mean overclocking. Look at 2933MHz or 3000MHz CL16 with 1.4V on memory—those are real numbers. The first generation didn’t really go higher even when considering the conditions. It seems you might have added a second kit, which isn’t great for running at the rated speed of either one. They only tested them in pairs.
