I'm using an asrock a320m pro4 r2.0 board, it's not great at all. I've had some problems with it. My CPU and motherboard budget is about 400-450, so a 9700k fits well. If you know of any better options within that price range, let me know! Edit: honestly, the board is too outdated for the latest Ryzen models.
It works with Matisse, which is Ryzen 3rd generation. No reference to 5th gen. If the VRM is sufficient, a 3950x should also function.
you could fit a 3600 on there. A 9700 is still a bad upgrade IMO. Hot running CPU, dead platform, No HT, just... not worth it.
