Hey there! I'm thinking about setting up a new gaming setup but haven't settled on the CPU yet. I have a few choices: i9-9900K (or KS if I can get one), LGA 1200 and 10, a Gen i9, or a Ryzen 9 third gen or Threadripper. Any advice would be great!

Compare the options: Ryzen 9 3900X versus the new 10900K. Decide which one fits your needs better.

What resolution and refresh rate are you aiming for? Which graphics card are you considering? Those CPUs are high-end and might be excessive (and thus a waste) if your focus is just gaming.

Request a 3700x model without any intel chips. The Ryzen 3rd generation offers better IPC thanks to its 7nm process compared to Intel's 14nm, providing higher efficiency and cooler operation. What is your budget?

Ryzen delivers strong results but has some limitations regarding compatibility and performance tweaks. The best option depends on your priorities. For gamers, choosing the blue lineup makes sense right now. If you value productivity, Ryzen could offer better value for performance. Unless you require additional PCI-E lanes, a threadripper might not justify the investment given the board cost.

The plan involved a 4K, 144hz ultar wide screen. Top End was the target, regardless of the price.

I don’t have a budget, but I aim for the top results that work.

Pick up the i9 9900K and upgrade a few months later... because you're not on a tight budget. It's the top choice for gaming right now.
