Hey guys. Just got my order for this MoBo, but I saw some reviews mentioning a chipset fan positioned right under where the GPU should go. Checked the board photo and it looks exactly like that. Upset, honestly—it makes me worried about possible stability issues. Could this be a real problem?
Many users have noted that the chipset fans on X570 boards spin very little, even when under stress. This doesn’t seem like an issue. If it weren’t, it would indicate a design weakness. Have you checked other reviews or discussions? It’s unlikely anyone highlights the fan’s orientation as a concern.
I spent the entire day searching for the X570 board and ended up exhausted, which made me fall into my usual OCD tendencies. I landed on a website where the problem was clearly explained. By the time I realized, I was too tired to remember installing it vertically. Still, it's a topic worth discussing. If the card covers the exhaust grill, I think the design is an issue because the hot air from the chipset would stay trapped inside that metal casing. I believe Gigabyte placed the fan lower than the PCI-E slot.
Review the details you shared about the fan in that thread. It’s clear it won’t cause any instability—it just increases the fan speed slightly. A design flaw isn’t the concern here. In general, placing a fan near a long or thick GPU can lead to more frequent spinning, but it’s usually not a major issue. Often, people don’t notice it because fans are quiet or covered by the GPU.
I didn't claim it was a design flaw. If it could cause issues (which I shouldn't assume), then it must be a flaw. One guideline: if it isn't advertised, it's likely not. I notice no "Dual-BIOS" labels on the MB page. It seems ASUS hasn't used one before. That might change though.
