You have an Acer Aspire Vx15 with a fan cleaning issue. Noticing visible damage on the chipset die, though the laptop still works. You're concerned about possible long-term effects or whether this could harm the chipset. There are two chips present—one clearly visible at the top and another faint in the top left area. It might not be an issue in the long run. In the short term it doesn’t seem like a problem. Should you request a return or exchange? It’s unclear how to justify opening the laptop and the chipset being damaged while the company accepts you didn’t cause the damage. If possible, and it’s a new item, proceed with the RMA.
It'll be fine. I've tested processors that seemed more problematic than this.
If it functions well, then it seems acceptable. Regarding the long-term, I'm not entirely confident. It's similar to what @Tristerin mentioned. If it's a new product and you're willing or able to purchase it, then you might consider doing so.
During my recent efforts to isolate the die, I realized the active circuits are located near the substrate. Cutting the opposite side is manageable as long as it stays within the boundaries.
