The chip functions as a MOSFET, acting like an on-off switch. When a signal travels through one of the narrow traces above the LED_CPU text and connects to a contact on the MOSFET, a link forms between the other two contacts. This allows current to pass, making the RGB header light up in red, green, or blue. There are three MOSFETs that rapidly switch thousands of times per second, adjusting the brightness of each color channel so they blend into a desired hue. The MOSFET appears damaged, suggesting a possible short circuit or excessive current flow through it. This could happen if a faulty LED strip caused a brief surge—possibly pulling 5A for a short time—overheating and destroying the component. You might be able to remove it by cutting the leads with a sharp tool; once taken off, the motherboard should function normally. The part is likely a low-Vgs threshold MOSFET (around 2-3V), possibly in the SOT-23 package. A suitable replacement can be found at Digi-Key or similar suppliers.
