Checking the Gigabyte PerfDrive Extreme Setting for the Aorus B860i Pro Ice?
Intel Default settings - Baseline
Intel Default settings - Performance
Intel Default settings - Extreme
GBT Default
My current build includes:
ASUS Prime OC GeForce RTX 5070 12GB
Intel Core Ultra 285K Tetracosa-core 24 core 3.7 GHz
MSI MAG A750GL 750 watt power supply
Kingston Fury Beast Black B2 5600MT/s DDR5 64GB
AORUS B860I AORUS PRO ICE
Kingston KC3000 PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 1TB SSD
ASUS Prime AP201 MicroATX White Case
Cooler Master MasterLiquid 360L Core ARGB 360mm
The Performance settings give decent outcomes, but the thermal performance keeps the CPU under 80°C, which feels a bit insufficient compared to previous i7 and i9 models on similar motherboards with MSI or ASUS BIOS 'easy' OC configurations.
Could using Extreme settings affect CPU stability?
What does the GBT option provide?
As someone in an architecture firm, I prioritize speed and reliability, aiming for a lifespan of around seven years. Please let me know.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer! GBT stands for Gigabyte, it's essentially an optimization by Gigabyte's team. A good habit is to review each profile and check if any values are skewed or too conservative. The one with more conservative numbers is the best choice for lasting performance.
Talking about longevity, what BIOS version do you have installed on your motherboard?
Thank you for the introduction. I began assembling computers in 2017 and mostly focused on enabling XMP, though it proved unreliable. Recently, I've been exploring MSI/ASUS easy OC settings over the past few years.
I'm now reading the CPU OC Guide and Tutorial on this forum. It's surprising how even conservative profiles can underperform compared to manual adjustments.
BIOS is F6, 3/11/2025
Thanks.
