Hey everyone, I had to go with a cheaper air cooler for my 4690K and ended up getting a Hyper TX3 to handle it. I’m curious about the performance with Arctic Silver 5 compared to the standard cooler, and whether it’s possible to fit two 120mm fans in a push-pull setup using a tight rubber band. The TX3 only supports 92mm fans, so that’s a limitation. Also, I’m wondering if it would work well with the LGA 1150 socket—some people have used it on the 4690K, but the push pins might make it hard to maintain good contact between the CPU and cooler.
My cooler isn’t really designed for overclocking, but it’s a good silent option for people in hot climates. Instead of trying to rig it yourself, I’d recommend just purchasing a Hyper Evo 212 and skipping the rubber band idea—though it’s a bit unusual. The Hyper Evo 212 is only $25 and is perfect for non-overclocking builds.
Sorry for the delayed reply, but I actually got the Hyper T4 this Tuesday. It seems to be a smaller version of the 212, and it looked good right away. Good news, this thread has already been marked as solved, so it wasn’t left unsolved for long.
