Hey there, I had to go with a cheaper air cooler for my 4690K and ended up getting a Hyper TX3. I’m sure Arctic Silver 5 will perform much better, but I’m curious about the temperatures. Also, could I fit two 120mm fans in a push-pull setup using a rubber band? The TX3 only supports 92mm fans. Plus, does it really fit on socket LGA 1150? Some people say they use it on the 4690K, but the push pins might make it hard to get good contact between the CPU and cooler.

You have better than stock cooling, you can always upgrade later.
I wouldn't change it, but for general cooling it's okay.

Push and pull solutions aren't effective, even with the EVO.
Adjustable mounts work well for Intel Socket LGA 1156/1155/1150 and AMD Socket FM2/FM1/AM3+/AM3/AM2/940/939/754.
They provide slightly improved cooling compared to the original design.

Push pull doesn't work, not even with the EVO.
Flexible mounts fit Intel Socket LGA 1156/1155/1150.
😀

775 and AMD Socket FM2/FM1/AM3+/AM3/AM2/940/939/754.
It cools a bit more than the original.
So it wasn't such a foolish decision to spend $18 on it?

It remains a better option than a standard stock configuration.

It's still a better option than a stock setup. I'll avoid directing the intake toward my exhaust fan.

I wouldn't overclock it, but it's acceptable for general cooling.
That's good, I'll upgrade to a Nepton once I overclock it.

Hey everyone, I had to go with a cheaper air cooler for my 4690K and ended up getting a Hyper TX3. I’m sure Arctic Silver 5 will perform much better than the original cooler, but I’m curious about the temperature readings. Also, could I fit two 120mm fans in a push-pull setup using a tight rubber band? The TX3 only supports 92mm fans.

I’m also wondering if it would work well with socket LGA 1150. I’ve heard people use it on their 4690K, but the push pins might make it hard to maintain good contact between the CPU and the cooler.

This cooler isn’t really built for overclocking; it’s more of a quiet alternative for people in hot climates. I’d recommend just purchasing a Hyper Evo 212 and skipping the rubber band idea—though it’s a unique setup.

NB seems like most people responded, while I just replied. Anyway, the Hyper Evo 212 is only $25 and, according to others, is a solid choice for non-OC builds.
