Checking issues with varying SSIDs on multiple devices linked to the same router over LAN.
I’m unfamiliar with routers and modems. Before, I could use ShareMouse from my old PC and Mac. Now I have two PCs, but only one connects to Wi-Fi. My ISP only provides one LAN port with the modem/router. After buying another PC, I also got a new router (TP Link A6). I connected both via LAN, but the SSIDs are different: PC1 is TP_Link_5856 and PC2 is TP_Link_5G. Because of my lack of experience, I don’t know what to do. I can’t connect both on Wi-Fi since only one has it. My goal is for ShareMouse to recognize both devices so I can stay productive with two screens.
SSID 2.4Ghz: TP_Link_5856 SSID 5Ghz: TP_Link_5G Both connections will share the same WLAN and subnet. The choice of PC on each network doesn't matter as long as it connects to the same router. It seems "Guest Mode" might be active, blocking direct communication between devices except for internet access, which could explain the issue. https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/649/
I believed you meant one uses Ethernet/LAN and the other WiFi. The Ethernet-connected device only displays its network info, not an SSID. If the router is set to default, both computers should share the same subnet as described before. This situation is a bit unclear. Could you provide the model numbers of all devices from the ISP up to the final PC? Also, how are the connections arranged? Are there multiple routers involved?
