I have been recently improving my PC to unlock its full capabilities, since it’s starting to show signs of wear after six years. It features an Intel Core i5 650 with a stock CPU cooler. My power supply is rated at 500 watts. Could I still overclock the CPU using just the stock cooler and PSU? Thanks!

Uncertain... it depends on the BIOS. OEM vendors typically restrict access. If you can adjust the settings, a range of 4-500 MHz might be possible.

It seems like a gentle overclock might be possible, but I'm not sure if the mainboard supports it.

Yes...a mild OC would work. I'd try re-applying the thermal paste first. The issue is whether Gateway's motherboard allows that (likely not). You're wondering if it's possible on your board, which is an H57H, and what speed you could go. Thanks for the prompt reply!
